Student Division

The Student Division lays the groundwork for all future dance training. Classes are taught with a careful emphasis on proper posture and placement, thoughtful full-body coordination, and expressive performance quality as dancers advance through each progressive level.

Dance Performance Workshop

Fridays, September 6-February 1, 4:15-6:15pm

For dancers ages 10-15

From the studio…to the stage! Our exciting Dance Performance Workshop engages students in the process of building a dance concert through audition techniques, learning choreography, design elements, and much more. Led by faculty member Calyn Carbery, weekly classes function as rehearsals as the dancers prepare for formal performances on Friday, January 31 and Saturday, February 1 in Studio5! Guest teachers will be brought in to teach choreography, share professional experiences, and guide the budding artists on their way. Limited to 24 dancers.

This is a workshop class and does not count toward the number of recommended classes per week. Dancers must be enrolled in at least two other classes—any style. Consistent class attendance is mandatory.

Ballet

Ballet classes develop strength, flexibility, musicality, and grace while learning the foundational positions and the French ballet vocabulary. If recommended, a Cecchetti class qualifies as one of the required ballet classes for levels 2-5.

Student Division Ballet and Modern classes are designed to be two-year levels. This allows the students ample time to grow and learn with their peers who are working on similar skills while providing more available classes per week in times that suit their schedule.

Modern

Modern, sometimes called contemporary, is a free and expressive style that uses rhythm, level, and imagery for a creative exploration of movement. Modern classes are danced barefoot and often to world music.

Student Division Ballet and Modern classes are designed to be two-year levels. This allows the students ample time to grow and learn with their peers who are working on similar skills while providing more available classes per week in times that suit their schedule.
